ROWLEY – Saturday evening was a good night for chili at the Rowley Community Center.

Twenty chilis were provided by 19 contestants. Each crockpot had a number and a spiciness level. Cheese, crackers, and sour cream were available for toppings. Some entries had extra sides, like gluten-free muffins. Other bars and corn muffins were offered.

The chili chefs were: Pam Collison, Brenda Corkery, Ellie Corkery, JoAnn Dillon, Kathy Hemsath, Shelly Johnson, Teri Janaszak, Barb McCright, Bobby Moses, Emily Myers, Harrison Myers, Pam O’Loughlin (2), Chris Orr, Lorrie Rasmussen, Cathy Rosene, Barb Schug, Lisa Taylor, John Thedens, and Sue Webster.

Over 70 tasters voted on their favorite by writing the crockpot number on a slip of paper and dropping it in a jar. The top three vote-getters were:

1st — Sue Webster

2nd — Pam O’Loughlin

3rd — Barb Schug

After sampling the chilis, the crowd played bingo.

Proceeds from the fundraiser are going to support community projects.
