The North Fayette Valley baseball team narrowly notched its first win of the 2025 season on Friday as the TigerHawks hosted a tough Starmont squad in West Union.
The Stars got scoring started early with a pair of runs in the away half of the first, but the TigerHawks responded with a three-run home half of the inning to take the lead.
Following a scoreless second, Starmont regained the lead in the top of the third with two more runs before NFV answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-4.
A scoreless fifth inning preluded two-run innings for the Stars in both the sixth and seventh, leading to a final score of 8-7.
The TigerHawks had seven hits in the loss with Hayden Thompson continuing his strong start to his sophomore campaign with two hits and three RBI. Senior Kenny Kerr also had a big night at the plate as he launched a home run to go along with three RBI.
