The TigerHawk volleyball team ushered in a new era under new head coach Aaron Nelson in winning fashion on Thursday night as North Fayette Valley defeated Class 4A Decorah in five sets.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Vikings opened the evening with a 25-19 win in set one before the TigerHawks responded with a 25-14 victory to pull even.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Decorah rebounded in the third with a 25-18 victory to regain the advantage, but NFV would prevail in the final two sets of the night with wins of 25-19 and 15-7 to improve to 1-0 on the new season.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Leading the effort for the TigerHawks was Lila Moore and Hannah Schroeder who each knocked home 12 kills, while senior Lily Holthaus distributed a team-high 30 assists on the night.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Ella Sieck had a team-high 16 digs on the defensive side while the team combined seven blocks with Cece Cummings and Holthaus each having two apiece to lead the effort.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý North Fayette Valley was back in action Tuesday night at Maquoketa Valley; however, results were not available at press time.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý On Thursday, the TigerHawks will head to Edgwewood-Colesburg to take on the host Vikings as well as Easton Valley.
