VINTON — The Vinton City Council voted to approve the hiring of Scott Wirth as the new Vinton Parks And Recreation (VPRD) Director. The decision came during the city council meeting on Thursday Aug. 28, 2025.
Formerly the Assistant VPRD Director, Wirth has served as the Interim Director since former Director Matt Boggess accepted a position as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Hiawatha in June of 2025.
Wirth said he is excited for the opportunity to serve the Vinton community, and got right to work during the first official meeting in his new position with two requests to the city for VPRD improvements. The requests included new paint for the city pool, and new carpet at the Skate Center. Both requests were approved.
Mayor Bud Maynard, City Administrator Chris Ward, and the Council expressed their congratulations and wished Wirth well in his new position.
Check out the Cedar Valley Times on Friday, Sept. 5 for more information about Wirth and his future plans for VPRD.
