At approximately 6:45 p.m. Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Buffy Jean Spooner, 51, of Jesup, on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for failure to appear. This arrest was made in the 1200 block of 175th Street.

At 10:40 p.m. deputies arrested Carah Belle Evans, 41, of Fairbank, on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for probation violation, in the 1100 block of Carter Avenue.

Tuesday, May 6

At 3:20 p.m. deputies arrested James Buerl, 47, of Waterloo, on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for probation violation and was taken into custody from the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office.

At 3:20 p.m. sheriff’s deputies arrested Jacob Glenn Arends, 40, of Rowley, on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for probation violation and held him on bond at the Buchanan County Jail.

Wednesday, May 7

At 12:55 a.m. sheriff’s deputies arrested Mallissa Marlean Miller, 38, of Rowley. Miller was charged with second offense domestic abuse assault (aggravated misdemeanor). This arrest was made following a disturbance in the 3000 block of Overland Avenue.

Thursday, May 8

At 12:50 p.m. deputies arrested Richard John Staveley, 68, of Brandon, on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for parole violation and was held on bond at the Buchanan County Jail.

Saturday, May 10

At 6:40 a.m. deputies arrested Leo Vincent Slater, 71, and Jenifer Noland Young, 67, both of Lamont. Slater and Young were each charged with controlled substance violation (Class D felony), keep premises or vehicle for controlled substance use (aggravated misdemeanor), drug tax stamp violation (Class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). These charges stem from an incident that occurred on Dec. 9, 2024. Both Slater and Young were held on bond at the Buchanan County Jail.

At 2:10 p.m. deputies arrested Carah Belle Evans, 41, of Fairbank, on active arrest warrants out of Buchanan County for original charges of first offense possession of controlled substance – marijuana (serious misdemeanor), first offense possession of controlled substance – amphetamine (serious misdemeanor), first offense possession of controlled substance – ketamine (serious misdemeanor), first offense possession of controlled substance – methylenedioxymethamphetamine (Class D felony), unlawful possession of prescription pills — alprazolam (serious misdemeanor), unlawful possession of prescription pills — zolpidem (serious misdemeanor), gathering where controlled substances used (Class D felony), drug tax stamp violation (Class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). These charges stem from a search warrant in the 1100 block of Carter Avenue on Jan. 31, 2025, and Evans was held on bond at the Buchanan County Jail.
