JESUP – Maddux Sickles had great success while hunt turkeys on April 13.
He was out with his father, Taylor, on ground near woods and the Wapsi when around 8:45 a.m. they spotted a big tom. Maddux took aim with his Winchester SXP 20 gauge that he bought last year and nailed the bird.
“We did not weigh the bird, but I’d guess around 22-25 pounds, had an 11 inch beard and 1†spurs!†said Taylor.
“It was a really fun experience and it was really cool to be that close to a turkey!†said Maddux, adding, “My heart was beating really fast and more nervous than when I shot a deer!â€
