Four gymnasts from Indee Area Gymnastics Academy competed at the 2025 USAG Iowa Xcel State Championships from March 29-31 in Des Moines. Representing the academy were Gold level gymnasts Freya McGreevy, Cora Torgerson and Harper Wieland; and Silver level gymnast Macy Pitz.
Eight-year-old McGreevy medaled for 11th on the vault, tied for 11th on the beam and earned 14th all-around in the state. Nine-year-old Torgerson secured 10th on vault, 11th on bars, and finished 15th all-around.
“Both Freya and Cora’s strong performances qualified them to advance to the Regional Championships — a tremendous achievement their first year in a tough level,†per IAGA owner/Team Director Andi Ewalt.
Ten-year-old Wieland earned 13th on vault and finished 19th all-around in the Gold division.
At the Silver level, nine-year-old Pitz “had a standout meet,†per McConnell.
Pitz tied for third on beam, placed fourth on bars, and tied for eighth on floor.
“Macy's consistency across all events led her to an impressive seventh place finish in the all-around standings for the entire state,†McConnell said. “Macy will represent Indee Area Gymnastics Academy at the USAG Nationals in Tennessee this spring.â€
The AAU State Championship meet is the first weekend of May.
The gym offers two different leagues, which gives the gymnasts the unique opportunity to pick one state meet, or they can attend both.
Ten gymnasts and two coaches head to Romeoville, Ill., to see where they land in the Central District.
