Before RAGBRAI riders can enjoy the many festivities that Oelwein has to offer come Friday, July 25, the RAGBRAI Housing Committee is searching for hosts that can ensure they have a place to park their bikes, rest their heads and take a nice shower.
Churches, service organizations and residents interested in hosting RAGBRAI riders/teams should fill out this form () to be put on the list for rider placement. The link can also be found by going to and locating the “Housing” tab.
Riders will come into Oelwein early that morning and will be ready to rest their legs after a long ride. With over 20,000 bikers coming in and many more expected in support teams, the Housing Committee said it’s imperative that those wanting to host sign up now.
Those interested in learning more about what hosting entails can attend the Housing Committee’s informational open house on Tuesday, April 22, at the Oelwein Public Library from 5:30-7 p.m. to learn more.
Additionally, a townhall meeting on all things RAGBRAI will be hosted at the Williams Center for the Arts on Wednesday, April 30, at 5:30 p.m. for the public to attend. The RAGBRAI Committee is looking for volunteers and more information will be released in May about signing up to assist.
Interested hosts can reach the Housing Committee at oelweinhousing@gmail.com to get more information on hosting.
