Jr Bronn was born on June 15, 1925, in Randalia, Iowa. When his family moved to Oelwein, Jr. delivered the Oelwein paper at age 12 and 13, worked at the Mealey Hotel at age 14, then was hired at the Fareway store in Oelwein.

Jr. married Ruby Jens, and they lived in Randalia after World War II, working for George Traeger at the IGA store. Jr. then opened his own business, deSign Specialty Company, still being operated today by his daughter, Carol Foster.

Area residents are invited to join his daughters, Sandy Trotter, Kathy Lenth, Carol (Tony) Foster and their families to celebrate Jr.’s 100th birthday on Friday, June 13, at the Coliseum Ballroom in Oelwein. Festivities will begin with an open house from 4 — 6 p.m. They will join the Hootenanny party afterward for the evening.

Jr will be receiving a special award from the U.S. Navy honoring his service during WWII. He has been invited to give speeches to college and high school students to assure that military soldiers would be remembered for their service. Jr. answered questions so many aspects of military life could be described.

What an honor for our family to celebrate his life well-lived and loved by us all so much!

Persons who are unable to attend the party but would like to send him a card, send it to him at 104 Halpin Avenue, Fairbank, IA 50629.
