JESUP – The Jesup Economic Development Foundation (JEDF) is proud to announce a major contribution of $50,000 toward the renovation of the Jesup Baseball and Softball Complex. This contribution is aimed at fostering the physical health and well-being of our youth, while also strengthening the community and boosting our local economy.
The new facility is part of a broader effort by JEDF to provide opportunities for regular physical activity, which is essential in promoting healthy lifestyles for our young people. Regular exercise through team sports like baseball and softball helps children and teens develop both physically and mentally, establishing habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
“Our investment in this complex is about much more than just building fields – it’s about investing in the future of our community,†said Mark Collett, Vice-President of the Jesup Economic Development Foundation. “Sports play an important role in teaching essential life skills such as teamwork, cooperation, and leadership. These values translate well beyond the field and help prepare our youth for success in all aspects of life.â€
In addition to its health benefits, the updated Jesup Baseball and Softball Complex will play a key role in uniting the community. By hosting local teams and tournaments, it will provide opportunities for residents and visitors alike to come together in support of Jesup’s athletes. This sense of community pride and unity is something that JEDF believes will continue to grow as the project comes to fruition.
“Supporting our local teams and fostering a sense of pride in Jesup is vital for maintaining strong community ties,†said Collett. “The baseball and softball complex will not only be a hub for sporting activities but will also serve as a gathering place for all residents. Our youth will feel the pride of representing Jesup, and our entire town will benefit from the collective spirit of support.â€
The project is also expected to generate a significant boost to the local economy. The ability to host regional and state-level tournaments will draw visitors from across the state and beyond, leading to increased tourism and spending at local and county businesses. Hotels, restaurants, and retail shops will see increased traffic, creating a ripple effect that strengthens the local area economy and creates new opportunities for business owners.
“We believe this project will serve as a catalyst for growth in Jesup,†said Collett. “The economic impact of attracting visitors, along with the pride and spirit it will cultivate in our town, will pay dividends for years to come.â€
The Jesup Economic Development Foundation remains committed to ensuring the long-term success of this project, which aligns with its mission to enhance the quality of life for residents and drive economic prosperity. With the support of local businesses, volunteers, and community members, the updated Jesup Baseball and Softball Complex will soon become a vital part of Jesup’s landscape, benefiting not only youth sports but the entire community.
