Among agenda items listed on the Monday evening meeting of the Oelwein City Council, a resolution stands to begin the process of removing old cable TV code and replacing it with town rules and regulations for this summer’s RAGBRAI.

The regular meeting of the Oelwein City Council will be held at 6 p.m. beginning with various hearings for property sales and for the purchase of new snow removal equipment at the Oelwein Municipal Airport. The first resolution of the night, though, is a decision to schedule a public hearing on May 12 to remove the Chapter 9 cable TV code and replace it with rules for RAGBRAI.

The deletion of Chapter 9 was in part of the aging code, of which the Council hopes to comb through over the next year to replace or delete code that will be more aligned with today’s uses and fit Oelwein’s needs.

Council will also set a public hearing to rezone two locations, 1297 South Frederick Ave. and 204 3rd St SE. The property located on South Frederick was the home of Financial Visions and is currently zoned as commercial property. The other is residential.

Following the public hearing on the proposed snow removal plans and purchase of new snow equipment, the council will seek to accept a bid from Gatr Truck Center in the amount of $191,326, of which is to be paid in part by the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA puts limits on what can be purchased using said funds, including equipment primarily made in the U.S.

Furthermore, the council will approve a bid from F.A.B. Builders, LLC for the repair of the fixed base operator hangar interior ceiling as it was found to be a safety concern. The project is estimated to cost $18,211 if done by F.A.B.

There are no work sessions prior and before the regular meeting at 6 p.m.
