Waverly’s beloved summer tradition, Ridiculous Days, is back and better than ever.
Set for Saturday, July 12, 2025, this year’s theme—“Dog Days of Summer”—adds a whole new level of fun with the debut of Paw Palooza, a celebration for pets and their people.
The day kicks off bright and early at 7 a.m. with the city’s popular Sidewalk Sales that take place, offering unbeatable deals from local retailers. Bargain hunters can expect lively streets, great finds and plenty of sunshine.
But the real treat starts at 9 a.m., when the inaugural Paw Palooza takes over a Second Street SE with four full hours of pet-centered fun, running until 1 p.m. Families, friends and furry companions are invited to take part in this festive new addition featuring:
• Strut Your Mutt Contest – Show off your dog’s charm at 10 a.m. near the giant fire hydrant. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Best Dressed, Pet/Owner Look-Alike and Best Smile.
• Free Pup Cups – Available while supplies last for visiting canines.
• Pet Photo Ops – Professional photos of people and their pets will be captured by Wag on Pets.
• Paw Patrol Meet & Greet – Kids can meet their favorite costumed pup heroes.
• Kids Craft Station – Young attendees can make their own dog toys to keep or donate.
• Hydration Station – Featuring a giant fire hydrant sprinkler to help everyone cool down.
“We wanted to bring something fresh and fun to Ridiculous Days this year,” said Tiffany Schrage, event organizer. “Adding a pet-friendly focus not only invites more of the community to participate but also gives our furry friends their time to shine.”
The annual event celebrates the spirit of summer, shopping local and connecting with neighbors—and this year promises to be the most paw-some yet.
